Description

The Urban Greening Grant program was provided an additional $80 million from Greenhouse Gas Reduction Funds in 2016 to continue supporting green infrastructure projects. This program provides public agencies and non-profits to fund projects that build or rehabilitate community parks and green spaces as well as reduce greenhouse gases by planting trees to sequester and store carbon, plant trees to shade buildings and reduce energy usage, or reduce vehicle miles traveled through the building of bicycle paths, bicycle lanes or pedestrian facilities. Approximately 25% of funding is also designated for projects that benefit disadvantaged communities.
